Client: Category Pirates

Overview: Turn a nearly complete draft of 22 separate mini-books into a cohesive, actionable book.

With all book projects, the first step is to evaluate the current manuscript and make an editing plan that aligns with the client’s goals.

This Category Pirates book needed several major updates: an impactful introduction, clear transitions between chapters, and actionable exercises incorporated throughout the book.

Each chapter was originally written as a standalone mini-book. To make the writing flow, we rewrote the intros and outros for each chapter.

It was important for this book to be actionable. So, we incorporated 11 exercises within key chapters to help people reflect on what they learned.

Here’s something to consider: Do you want to offer additional guides, templates, or worksheets to engage readers? For The 22 Laws, we also created a separate 38-page AI worksheet to help readers dive deeper into the exercises. We gave it away for free to anyone who bought the book.

“Katrina was extremely instrumental when it came to creating our last book, The 22 Laws of Category Design, rethinking the structure and the intent and really adding new content to it, like the AI workbook. This has really been helpful as we think about what does it mean to reinvent the book business.”
